Hon. Chief Justice presides over the official opening of a training workshop for Magistrates

On February 5, 2025, His Lordship the Hon. Chief Justice presided over the official opening of  a training workshop for magistrates focused on the adjudication of election-related matters. The training was organised by the Judiciary in collaboration with the Malawi Electoral Commission. The recent amendments to Malawi's electoral legislation necessitated this training initiative. The magistrates were briefed on the management of cases involving electoral offenses, in addition to be informed on a comprehensive overview of the current legislative framework governing electoral matters and the specific provisions related to electoral offenses. As the nation gears up for the forthcoming tripartite general elections scheduled for September, this training assumes significant importance.
