LAUNCH OF THE MALAWI JUDICIARY HANDBOOK ON GENDER BASED VIOLENCE CASE HANDLING AND DISTICT CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Malawi Judiciary has developed and launched a handbook on GBV case handling which focuses on building the capacity of judicial officers and staff on providing survivor centered approaches to victims of gender based violence and ensuring gender responsive services.

The developments were supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (formerly DFID) funded Tithetse Nkhanza project which thought it necessary to build on homegrown initiatives that guarantee ownership and sustainability. The Case Management System is being piloted in the 3 target districts of the project namely Karonga, Mangochi and Lilongwe and is set to roll out to all districts in Malawi after a successful pilot phase.
