CHILD JUSTICE DIRECTORATE (CJD) AND NATIONAL CHILD JUSTICE FORUM (NCJF) RELEASES PUBLICATIONS ON CHILD JUSTICE
In April, 2021 the Child Justice Directorate (CJD) and National Child Justice Forum (NCJF) released four publications that are meant for use for training and as reference guides for practitioners in the child justice sub-sector. The publications were developed with technical and financial support from UNICEF and USAID.
The publications are as follows:
1. Compendium of Child Related Laws
This publication provides a quick reference to practitioners on domestic and international laws that provide for, protect and promote children’s rights. The publication is for use by all players in child protection circles.
2. Compendium of Laws for the Protection of Women and Children from Sexual and Gender Based Violence
This compendium provides statute and case law that address the most common yet complicated
acts and omissions bordering on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) that affect children and women. The aim of the publication
is to improve on quality and promote consistency when dealing with sexual and gender-based violence cases.
National Standards for Child Justice Court Circuits
This publication aims at standardizing practice for child justice court circuits. It aims at ensuring efficiency in implementing child justice court circuits and also enhancing adherence to set procedures whenever the Child Justice Court is sitting in remote areas. The standards offer guidance on court processes as well as on administrative aspects to both government and non-governmental actors that implement and finance the court circuits.
4. Child Justice Core Competencies Training Manual
This publication provides minimum competencies that are required for child justice practitioners. The Manual is for use in all trainings within the child justice sub-sector.
