𝗠𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱

The Honourable the Chief Justice, Rizine Robert Mzikamanda, SC, has officially relaunched the refurbished Mdinde Magistrate Court in the area of Senior Chief Katuli, Mangochi District.

The court, which ceased operations in March 2023 after being declared structurally unsafe, has undergone extensive refurbishment and is now fully operational again.

Speaking during the relaunch ceremony, Chief Justice Mzikamanda described the occasion as both historic and a celebration for the Judiciary and the people of Mangochi, noting that the reopening forms part of the Judiciary's broader programme to rehabilitate court infrastructure across the country.

The reopening of Mdinde Magistrate Court is expected to greatly improve access to justice for communities under Senior Chief Katuli and surrounding areas, including Traditional Authority Chowe. For more than three years, residents had to travel long distances to either Namwera Magistrate Court, approximately 30 kilometres away, or Mangochi District Court, about 78 kilometres away, to access judicial services.

"We are committed to taking justice to the people, including the remotest parts of the country. We want to reinforce the fact that justice is not for a few, but for everyone," he said.

The Chief Justice further urged judicial officers, court staff and members of the public to safeguard the refurbished facility and ensure it delivers professional, efficient and corruption-free services to all those seeking justice.
