Supreme Court Participates in Electoral Symposium in Kenya

Justice Frank Kapanda, SC represented the Supreme Court of Malawi during a 3-day Election Dispute Resolution (EDR) symposium for Supreme Court judges of Kenya held at Serena Beach Resort and Spa in Mombasa from 6th to 10th June 2022. The symposium was organized to firm up the Judiciary of Kenya’s preparedness to handle election petitions ahead of the August 9, 2022, General Election.

Justice Kapanda presented on Evidentiary Issues and Threshold for Nullification of Presidential Election, with experience from the Malawi Presidential electoral dispute case of the 2020 elections.

Chief Justice Martha Koome of Kenya presided over the opening of the symposium which was conducted by the Judiciary Committee on Elections (JCE) in conjunction with Kenya Judiciary Academy (KJA), the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa and targeted judges and judiciary staff ahead of the August 9, General Election.
