𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝘇𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗗𝗥 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮

The Honourable Rizine Robert Mzikamanda SC, Chief Justice of the Republic of Malawi and Chairperson of the Southern and Eastern Africa Chief Justices’ Forum (SEACJF), is participating in the 3rd Africa Chief Justices’ Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, alongside African Chief Justices, ADR practitioners and justice sector stakeholders from across the continent.

Held under the theme “𝘈 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴: 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘋𝘙 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢,” the forum is exploring innovative ways to make justice systems more accessible, inclusive, affordable and responsive to the needs of citizens.

The President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Dr William Ruto, officially opened the Forum this morning with a call on African countries to strengthen Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) as critical tools for enhancing access to justice, promoting social cohesion and driving economic development across the continent.

Discussions during the forum have highlighted the critical role of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) in enhancing access to justice, strengthening social cohesion, preserving relationships, boosting investor confidence and supporting Africa’s economic transformation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The forum has also underscored the need for litigation to become a last resort, while promoting dialogue, mediation and restorative justice as effective pathways for resolving disputes and fostering peaceful, prosperous communities across Africa.

The 3rd ADR Forum was preceded by the launch of the Embu Alternative Justice Systems (AJS) Centre and the 4th National Alternative Justice Systems Conference yesterday, 18 July 2026.
